Description

The Boston College Club is a private social and dining club in downtown Boston, two blocks from South Station.  It is open Monday - Friday, 7am to 9pm, occasionally later or on Saturdays for private event functions.  Candidates must be able to work until 11pm regularly to prepare Club for next day.  One meal daily is included in our exceptional team culture.  No parking is provided but public transportation passes are available at a 15% discount.


Main Overall Responsibilities for this position are:

1. Set and break down function rooms according to floor plans and instruction.
2. Complete maintenance of all public areas and banquet equipment, delivering high quality cleanliness, presentation and service.
3. Assisting staff as requested by F&B leaders, which may include function refreshes and setting up audio-visual.


Essential functions and duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Responsible for room setup as indicated on catering function sheets.
2. At start of shift check all club activity for the day where a houseperson may be needed, and plan and schedule support accordingly.
3. At end of shift, ensure all setups, equipment and areas for the next shift are in place and set for success.
4. Ensure that all public areas are vacuumed, dusted and clean, including glass, light bulbs/fixtures, shades prior to and during daily club schedule; this includes all public areas and bathrooms.
5. Keep linens and equipment organized and in proper working condition.
6. Keep storage facilities orderly and secure all banquet equipment,décor/props.
7. Perform monthly inventories of banquet equipment & props.
8. Keep service landing clean, swept, mopped and clear of equipment in accordance with fire code.
9. Spot clean banquet chairs as needed.
10. Accept deliveries and transport to correct locations.

Other Accountabilities include:

1. Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club's operation, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed. Therefore, as an essential part of your position, you may be cross-trained and expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other Employee Partners are expected to help you.
2. Have an engaging, friendly attitude which is crucial for Member retention and overall teamwork
3. Must be able to interact with Members professionally, helping them with changes and last minute requests.
6. Must be able to follow instructions well, yet capable of working
independently.
7. Must be observant and bring concerning situations to supervisor immediately.
8.Knowledge on the set up of Audio Visual Equipment.



Job Requirements

  • Hotel, restaurant or catering company experience setting up functions or public events, handling equipment caringly with a good eye for detail.
  • Experience cleaning and maintaining interior premises.
  • Must be able to read, understand and speak conversational English
  • Must be able to work any day of the week based on club needs
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace.
  • Must be able to follow instructions well, yet capable of working
    independently.
  • Must be observant and bring concerning situations to supervisor immediately.
